Kristin Barber is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at Matrix Mental Health, providing psychiatry across Phoenix, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and Oregon. She is passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, rediscover their strengths, and move toward a fulfilling, balanced life.
Her goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free space where growth, healing, and resilience can thrive.
Kristin earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Scottsdale Community College in 2017, followed by her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arizona State University in 2020.
She spent most of her early nursing career as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, where she developed strong skills in critical thinking, clinical judgment, patient advocacy, and managing high-stress, high-stakes environments.
It was during her years in the ICU, caring for patients and their families through some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives, that Kristin’s passion for mental health took shape.
She came to see emotional wellbeing as inseparable from physical recovery, and she chose to dedicate her career to it. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Purdue University in 2025.
Kristin brings the same attentiveness and advocacy from her ICU career into psychiatric practice.
She takes time to understand each patient as a whole person — their circumstances, their goals, and the people who matter to them — and partners with them on a care plan built around their needs, whether that involves evaluation, medication management, or coordinated therapy referrals.
Kristin evaluates and treats a range of mental health conditions for children, teens, and adults, including:
Kristin sees patients via secure, HIPAA-compliant video in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and Oregon — no commute, no waiting room.
